Perfect method for self-talk in English

G'day mate, how are you going? I'm going extremely well indeed. Today, I'd like to discuss how to kickstart talking to yourself in English. Even if your English level is fairly low, there is a high possibility of developing your speaking skills more naturally. Let me substantiate what it actually means.

First of all, talking to yourself is, I entirely believe, one of the best of the best methodologies as a means of reinforcing your confidence level of spoken performance. Well, of course, it is one of the prerequisites that you've learnt and acquired a certain level of English language fundamentals such as pronunciation, grammar as well as vocabulary. But, these requisite knowledge don't have to be perfect in order to do self-talk well. You just need all basics, so that you should be able to learn any other advanced skills from internal monologue and read aloud practice. Yeah, so you should aim for striking the balance between learning theories and practices.

Right, so how do we start talking to yourself in English at home? The easiest and the most effective method you should try is to talk about what you've done yesterday, what you're doing, thinking and feeling right now, and what you'll be doing tomorrow or over the next few days. Well, obviously the tense you're gonna use is extremely important to be able to continuously and smoothly talk about meaningful and correct English sentences without unnecessary pauses and hesitations. Remember, the simpler the better when it comes to practising self-talk. You can, nonetheless, talk of more complicated things using compound and complex sentences unless you're pretty confident about grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Otherwise, the more complicated and sophisticated you're trying to say, the harder and trickier you're gonna feel, in which case there will be a possibility that you're gonna be stuck or stumbling through self-talk.

Then, for instance, if I were you as a beginner in English, I would be talking about the above daily things in the past, the present, and the future. Please do say like this: Well, what I did yesterday were like teaching online, having a nice cuppa, taking some exercise, cleaning my bathroom. At the moment, what I'm doing is writing my English blog, thinking of what I should eat for my lunch, sitting my office chair, having a look at my laptop screen, surfing the internet, and so on. Tomorrow, I'll probably be talking to a friend of mine over ZOOM, teaching online, going for a short bike-ride, and cooking some special meals. What do you think about this? How simple, huh? I didn't use any difficult word and sentence structure, did I? The only important thing to keep in mind is the use of correct tense, basic SVO structure, and chronological sequence. That's it. If you could say like this, there won't be any issue for even a beginner in English. Speaking isn't that hard unless you try to keep it simple, making sure that you won't use any fancy word and structure for the whole duration of self-talk.

Once you've mastered the above aforementioned simplest self-talk method, you'll be able to gradually add some spice to your simple sentences. You don't necessarily need this, but it's gonna be a good practice for you to use new words, phrases and expressions. After recording your voice, you can do analyse what you've done.
