G'day mate, how're things going? Unfortunately it's been pissing down outside. But, sometimes it's good to have, because Canberra is consistently one of the driest cities in Australia. By the way, today I'm gonna talk about why I highly recommend using only SVO sentence structure for your practice. Let me elaborate it further.
First of all, SVO sentence structure is one of the easiest ones for a beginner to say and write. No one shouldn't be worried about it unless knowing a variety of basic words. Even writing, if you are a beginner of the English language, you'd better use simple words and structures like SVO to avoid silly mistakes. And so, since you are unlikely make any mistake, you will be more confident about using different sentence structures and more advanced words. Then, how do they look like?
Something like this: Today, outside is raining. The temperature is below 10 degrees. I am typing English sentences for my English blog right now. I am trying to write clear and easy sentences. I am increasingly getting hungry. I am thinking of having breakfast very soon. Now I try to finish up my English blog. To be continued...
Have you got the hang of it? It's straightforward, isn't it? The simpler and clearer you're trying to write or say, the easier your listener or reader could be able to understand you. This is the Most Important aspect of what needs to be taken into account before you think you wanna write or say more advanced sentence structures and words. Many English learners tend to write or say too complicated sentence structures with inappropriate or incorrect academic words, which normally end up making grammatical mistakes. The easier you try to write or say, the less grammatical mistakes you will have. Even journalism, you don't often see too complicated English sentence structures, do you? Like newspapers or magazines, of course, some particular types of authors or writers tend to use a bit difficult structures and words, but they are impeccably correct and appropriate in terms of English grammar, collocation and word choice. This is because that these guys have definitely been trained properly in the course of becoming a professional journalist. For you as a beginner of the English language, such a proper speaking and writing training have to be done. But, if you are not aiming for becoming a professional speaker or writer, then you don't have to have a perfect grammar with perfectly appropriate words all the time. Nevertheless, you wanna try to reduce a number of basic grammatical errors.
In a nutshell, you Can, of course, use a wide range of grammatical structures and advanced words unless you've mastered them and are pretty confident about them in common usage. However, if not, then you'd better stick to the use of the simplest English sentence structure such as SVO along with the basic words within the range of Oxford 5000.
