G'day mate. How's it going? Today, I'm gonna talk about how effective self-talk in English is gonna have an immensely positive impact upon your speaking. For me, when I have time, I tend to practise speaking in English via self-talk in making sure I won't be stuck in worrying too much about grammar, word choice as well as pronunciation. This is because that if you are too much conscious about those aspects, then it's gonna highly likely be ineffective, or waste of your precious time. So, anyone being eager to improve speaking skills shouldn't stop talking even if you think what you are saying doesn't make sense, which is absolutely fine. Let's discuss this in more details.
So, I've coined "Gomi talk" (=literal translation "Rubbish talk"). To be honest, this method does work out for anyone who has already acquired all the fundamental English skills such as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Of course, you don't have to be perfect in these aspects at this point; however you are expected to have a certain level of proficiency in order to do self-talk well. If you already have some skills, then it's technically possible to kick off this Gomi talk immediately.
How should I kickstart this Gomi talk? Well, you just scribble some keywords down on your notes or type that up. I mean you should do brainstorming first. And then, what you should do is to think about how you're gonna incorporate them into your self-talk. You don't need to think about the content per se even if it's gonna be rubbish. At least, what's expected is to use them all for your talk, and you may just give an invisible audience the explanations and its associated elaborations in terms of the keywords you jotted down. This is gonna be extremely beneficial for boosting your confidence.
Ok, I do understand the aforementioned above, but then how could I analyse the things what you've said? In other words, how on earth could you improve your speaking skills like pronunciation, grammar, and word choice? The short answer is this: you always record yourself, check with a voice recognition software such as Chrome Browser, and you should have basic skills in the first place. Without knowing anything at all regarding basic skills, the implementation of self-talk is unfortunately nonsensical. At least, you're expected to have the ability to correct yourself, which means that when you are self-talking or beating about the bush, you're prone to make some mistakes; however you can technically find the mistakes when you are listening to the recording of your voice. This is critical!!
In conclusion, talking to yourself is one of the splendid ways to improve speaking skills. But, please make sure that you need to be relatively versed in basic English grammar, words as well as pronunciation. Probably it takes 6 months or two to smash these aspects, depending upon your current skill level. Just keep in mind the fact that anyone who's passionate about learning English is technically possible to have a full realisation of the effective self-talk method. To 100% cure diseases, there is unfortunately no panacea from a pathological perspective, whereas there is one for English from a linguistic viewpoint, which is the Gomi talk as a part of self-talk in English.
That's all for today. Thanks for reading my blog!
Hope to see you soonish, you have forthcoming happy Christmas holidays!!
