G'day, how are you today? I'm very well, indeed. This morning, something has just occurred to me like 'Why Speaking is more important than Writing'. I'm assuming that pretty much everyone knows how important Speaking is, in order to develop your English proficiency. I reckon, however, Speaking is not just important, but critical to the acceleration of your English learning. Let's get into it.
First up, Writing has become intertwined with Speaking not so long ago. The medium of spoken language is so much older than that of written one. Presumably you know the fact, don't you? One of the most prominent Greek philosophers, Socrates, has proven that his accounts are written as dialogues, in which Socrates and his interlocutors examine a topic on the basis of Q & A style, mostly with Socrates taking the lead, and brought about the literary genre, right? How intriguing is it? Anyway, I don't wanna delve deeper into the fact now. I do believe Socrates might be one of the oldest of the oldest "linguistic influencers". What do you reckon, mate?
Pardon me, may I go back to the main topic that I was discussing. So, prior to learning the way in which you write a sentence in English, Speaking comes first. But, of course, you need to be well equipped with basic grammar rules and clear pronunciation. My understanding is that you can't write sentences that seem to be very natural, not wonky unless you've got these requisite skills. That is to say, if you can't speak properly, then you may be unable to write proper sentences. But, how do I know this? Well, here is a simple task you should try: You pick up a pencil or be ready to have a notepad in front of you, and then you jumpstart speaking and writing/typing things what you're doing, thinking and feeling almost instantaneously. If you can do this correctly, then you are champion, lad! You've already got the potential to be able to boost your written skills exponentially.
In a nutshell, written skills come from spoken ones. If you think I'm not really adept at writing something in English without a heavy reliance upon dictionaries, then you'd better improve spoken skills such as pronunciation, grammar rules, and active vocabulary. I'm sure you'll be astonished to realise the fact that Speaking competency has to be vastly superior to Writing one if you wanna be good at Writing.
Thanks for reading my blog. Have a lovely weekend, everyone!
Cheers.
