G'day, how's it going mate? Today, I'm going to discuss why the PTE is the best English exam for those who are eager to boost oral fluency. The short answer is that you really have to speak confidently and smoothly without unnecessary pauses and hesitations, which are all prerequisite for the exam takers. Let's talk about this a bit further, shall we?
First of all, even if you are not going to take the PTE exam, studying this exam gives you very practical benefits in terms of oral fluency. The PTE speaking has 6 types of questions: which are Personal Introduction, Read Aloud, Repeat Sentence, Describe Image, Re-tell lecture, and Short Answer Questions. Amongst other things, Read Aloud and Repeat Sentence are crucially important question types in order to boost not just your exam score, but also oral fluency as well. As for Read Aloud, you've got multiple sentences in front of you, and the topic definitely varies. You have to read them aloud as you read, which needs to be as clear and accurate as you possibly can. To this end, of course, you've got to make sure that your pronunciation has to be crystal clear, and moderate speed and smoothness has to be maintained throughout the passage. This practice is going to be so beneficial for those who want to improve pronunciation and, especially oral fluency, because you've got be very fluent anyway in order to get good scores, right? In particular, when it comes to pronunciation, you've got to ensure that there won't be many mistakes such as verb-ending and plural nouns' S. If those mistakes persist then your pronunciation score will be Zero automatically. So, practising Read Aloud question provides you with ample opportunities to ameliorate pronunciation and oral fluency.
Next up, as for Repeat Sentence, this is going to be really useful for those who want to develop working memory and oral fluency as well. Even a very short sentence often confuses you how to memorise the sentence and regurgitate it smoothly without unnecessary pauses and hesitations. I do understand how hard it is, but you just need to be trained for an extended period of time to get used to. Even if you don't get it what it said clearly or partially understand it, your answer has to be done smoothly and fluently, which is the basic marking criterion to be able to get a better score in oral fluency. So, you'd better not have unnecessary pauses and hesitations.
All in all, the PTE, especially speaking parts for the exam, is my recommendation for those who have been studying English but haven't improved pronunciation and oral fluency. After earlier September or October onwards, my new course (6 month PTE video-based lesson) will be commenced. If you really want to improve those weak points in English, then you are encouraged to contact me now, and you will be advised when to apply for the course accordingly.
